David competed in the Dragon Class in the 1956 Olympics in Melbourne (with his brother and a friend). In the early 2000s he spent some time and effort looking for his boat from that time (KC50 Tomahawk). After numerous dead ends, he decided to buy CAN115, Ludmilla which he had restored and renamed as Tomahawk … Read more
Fair winds, Ian. We will miss you. One of the great characters of the Dragon Class has left us. Many will have encountered Ian at various events around Lake Ontario and in Europe. And those who spent time in the bar after racing will remember his role as Shop Steward for the Crew’s Union. Let go … Read more
Comments from the Cleveland Dragon Flee… They work great in waves and steady and gusty winds 20-25! and even more wind we are learning! Normally none of the Dragons are in the water at that time so we are unable to participate. The Clair invites … Read more

Sunday very light wind and shifty with leftover slop from Saturday 8 footers. Most classes only got one race in on Sunday. Our race course managed to get two … Read more
Please welcome James Smekal to the Dragon Class. James has sailed with the Cleveland Fleet for a couple of years and purchased USA253, Orca two years ago (not the best timing since pretty much everything in 2020 was cancelled). He will be racing her in Cleveland Race Week this coming weekend. USA253 is the second … Read more
The Vancouver Fleet has had two spring regattas so far, a two-day weekend in May and a one-day event in June. It’s been a slow start to the season with wetter and cooler weather than most recent years. Nice to see 8 Dragons registered although at least one dropped out due to typical early-season equipment … Read more
