Eight Bells – David Howard

David competed in the Dragon Class in the 1956 Olympics in Melbourne (with his brother and a friend). In the early 2000s he spent some time and effort looking for his boat from that time (KC50 Tomahawk). After numerous dead ends, he decided to buy CAN115, Ludmilla which he had restored and renamed as Tomahawk II. I spent a day with him in Toronto touring the workshops where she was being restored. He said the project gave him a new lease on life. As David was an ex-Commodore of RCYC, he was given a prime slip near the clubhouse on the island. In 2018 he was inducted into the Canadian Sailing Hall of Fame. Tomahawk is still sailing and racing on Orcas Island in Washington State as USA322.
